Growing a greener tomorrow
At Sawmill Creek, we believe in protecting the natural beauty of Canada for generations to come. Our commitment to achieving sustainability guides everything we do, from our packaging choices to meaningful partnerships that make a difference.
Through our partnership with Tree Canada, each purchase of Sawmill Creek wine helps support reforestation projects across the country. Together, we’re planting trees in communities nationwide, creating lasting environmental benefits and contributing to Canada’s natural landscapes.

Packaging
Our commitment to sustainability extends to our packaging. Sawmill Creek wine is packaged in materials that prioritize environmental responsibility. The majority of our packaging is designed to be recyclable, helping reduce waste and promote a circular economy. Additionally, our cardboard cartons are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), ensuring that they are sourced from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social, and economic benefits.

Wine Eco Pack Less Waste FormatTM
We’re proud to introduce the Wine Eco Pack Less Waste FormatTM, a designation that makes it easier for shoppers to identify our less waste packaging option on the shelf. By choosing our Wine Eco Pack Less Waste FormatTM, you’re not only enjoying more value but also taking the right steps towards making an impact on the environment:
-
Made from recycled fibres
-
Recyclable Bag-in-box packaging
Recyclable Bag-in-box packaging uses fewer raw materials than glass bottles, which decreases resource extraction and production waste. Additionally, the outer cardboard box is made from recycled materials and is recyclable in select regions, supporting a circular economy.
-
Lower Carbon Footprint
Bag-in-box packaging has a lower carbon footprint than glass bottles. It requires less energy to produce, and because it’s lighter and more compact, it also reduces transportation emissions. Studies have shown that BiB wine packaging can cut carbon emissions by up to 90% compared to glass bottles. (Alko Oy Update of wine packaging LCA – Final Report (Gaia Consulting Oy, 2018)
-
Extended Freshness Reduces Waste
Bag-in-box wine stays fresh longer after opening—typically up to six weeks—thanks to the airtight bag and spout that prevents oxidation. This extended freshness reduces the likelihood of waste from unfinished wine, making it an ideal choice for eco-conscious consumers who want to reduce waste.
